Cheri from the Daily Post challenges us to look for the abandoned:
For this week’s photo challenge, show us abandoned. You can go literal, as I have, and share a photo of ruins, a desolate place, or your idea of a wasteland. Or you can interpret it in other ways, from images of overlooked things to forgotten people.
This old school is only about 1/2 mile from where we live. It is on private property now so this is as close as I can get. In the summer months, the trees almost completely hide it from view, but in the winter, with snow gently falling, it calls out for the children to come once again to expand their knowledge.
I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to be a child going to school in such a small building. The comfort of knowing everyone there, including the teacher, throughout all the school days and years. There are web posts that float around about how eighth graders at the turn of the last century had a much more comprehensive education than the children today. I think if one was going to school in this environment, that arguement holds quite a bit of weight.
